W7M conclude the participants' list for DreamHack Open Rio following a 2-1 victory against Isurus in the grand final of the LatAm South closed qualifier.
The best-of-three series between Brazilian and Argentinian sides W7M and Isurus witnessed all three maps played out, with both teams attaining double digits on every single one. First up was Inferno, where Maximiliano "max" Gonzalez and his squad secured a solid 9-6 CT half, only for W7M to dominate on their own defence. Ten rounds to one were accrued by the Brazilians, landing them a 16-10 victory on the first map.
Overpass followed, where W7M kept the momentum rolling early-game on their CT start, with Isurus stealing the reins towards the middle of half. This made for a 9-6 T half in the Argentinians' favour, and ultimately meant a victory on the map, as Leon "ryotzz" Felipe and his squad faltered on the T side, conceding map two 11-16.
Concluding the series was Mirage. W7M kicked off on the CT side of affairs, securing an early 6-0 lead prior to Isurus being able to figure out an alternative approach. Once the Argentinians did, however, they managed to bring the scoreline back to a 6-9 deficit. Despite the effort, the team playing catchup was not able to complete the turnaround as a weak CT performance spelled elimination for Isurus, who will now switch their focus to the ESL Pro League Season 9 Americas.
